The first year that I tried to have this Santa touch my belly, it was a hard sell that didn't work out. He was nervous about doing this in front of the line of waiting children and their parents, and maybe losing his job. He basically wanted no part of it. I got all the way to the couch before he backed out, so that was heartbreaking.
The next year I went back to the same mall, hoping for a different Santa. There was no line this time, so I gave my pitch to the photographer, who said that she wasn't opposed as long as Santa wasn't. She called him over. It turned out to be the same Santa that had denied me the previous year. I wasn't sure if he recognized my until he said, "I remember you. Let's do this quick."
His smile in this photo is amazing, and a testament to his professionalism. Thank you Santa.
